Robert Trent Jones II Design

Just 45 min. drive from Faro airport, near the lovely beach town of Lagos, the Palmares golf course was recently re-designed by famous golf architect Robert Trent Jones II and turned in to one of the best Links golf courses in Portugal.
Palmares golf course is a 27-hole golf course offering three distinctive loops of 9-holes (the Alvor, Lagos and Praia courses) but equally challenging and interesting. Golfers may repeat Palmares again and again, and will play a different golf course each time. Each 9-hole return to Palmares clubhouse.

Breathtaking views over the Ocean

The Palmares golf course offers incredible views across the Bay of Lagos and to the Alvor Estuary mixed with some holes, in true Links fashion, by the Atlantic Ocean.
The Palmares Golf Course is one of the few courses in the Algarve and Portugal, with no real estate construction on site, offering a pure nature experience to the golfers.
The Palmares golf course was awarded 6 consecutive years as Best Golf Course in Portugal and is currently 26th in the Top100 golf courses in Europe.

Description of Palmares lay-out

The Alvor Course plays through pine tree-lined corridors, with the majority of holes ascending hillsides or descending through intimate valleys. The parkland setting disappears momentarily, and the area of mature trees is replaced with a series of more exposed holes. A momentary preview of the dunes holes to come is also provided at the sixth and seventh holes. As the round concludes, the course ascends once again into parkland.

The Lagos Course begins with the same parkland character, incorporating the only two lakes found on the entire site in the short par-three third hole and the long par-four sixth. Holes seven and eight immerse golfers in expansive dunes on the south-west portion of the site, before the loop concludes by ascending back to the clubhouse amid a more parkland setting.

The Praia Course is classic seaside dunes-land exposed to the elements. Four seaside holes are bracketed by the beach and the railway line, after descending from a parkland setting. Abruptly, the second hole whisks golfers into the true coastal links, which continues to the closing hole: a strong, uphill par-five, rising back out of the dunes through a deep valley to an amphitheatre just below the impressive clubhouse.

Driving Range

The Palmares golf course offers excellent practice conditions with full Ocean view. The Driving Range is 300 m. long with tee boxes on both extremities and various greens to simulate playing situations.

New Club House

The amazing new Clubhouse was designed by RCR Architects, winners of the prestigious Pritzker Architecture Award. The new state-of-the-art Clubhouse provides a stunning panoramic ocean view from the Alvor Estuary, the Meia-Praia and Ponta da Piedade in Lagos.
One part of the clubhouse is reserved to the one-star Michelin restaurant by chef Louis Anjos.

New Clubcar Buggy Fleet: New Buggies equipped with the advanced comfort pack at the Palmares Golf Course.
