A hilly course

The Santo Antonio Golf Course, in the Algarve, was designed by Spanish architect Pepe Gancedo, whose philosophy of golf course construction involves minimal alteration to the existing terrain.

The Santo Antonio Golf Course runs over hills behind the village of Salema, close to Lagos and not far from the Costa Vicentina Nature Reserve.
Santo Antonio is an undulating course with some sloping fairways, small, well-bunkered greens and many lakes. As for playing the course, it is advisable to use a buggy.

Playing with accurate precision

The first hole of Santo Antonio Golf Course, a 525 metre Par 4, faces toward the sunrise and presents a challenge for those intending to reach its green in just two shots. Hole 5 is a Par 3 just over 112 metres long, but here the ball is only playable if it falls straight onto the green.

Hole 9, a par 5, is the most difficult hole on the course, where you have to play the ball over a small river to reach the green.

Fascinating diversity

The highlight of the back round of the Santo Antonio Golf Course is hole 11, where you have to avoid water hazards. The course then continues with a Par 5 hole that leads to the "Valley of the Wells" and an elevated green. After playing along the Par 4 "Lost Valley", you will be faced with the dramatic tee shot of the Par 3 15th hole. Here you can also see the lake, which makes play difficult on holes 16 and 17 and offers a real challenge for higher handicaps.

Another notable hole is the 18th, which ends right beneath the clubhouse.
