Preserved nature close to Lisbon

The Aroeira Pines Classic Golf Course (formerly Aroeira I) is located within the Herdade da Aroeira estate, just a 30-min drive from the centre of Lisbon and a short journey from the picturesque Fonte da Telha beach. Once referred to as the 'Wentwoth of Lisbon' by the UK press, the Aroeira Pines Classic Golf Course takes its name from its setting within a preserved pine forest.

Designed by Frank Pennick, the Aroeira Pines Classic Golf Course harmoniously blends the amenities of a championship golf course with the scenic landscapes of Portugal. Since the opening of the 4-star Aroeira Lisbon Hotel, the Aroeira Pines Classic Golf Course has become one of the most popular golf destinations in the south of Lisbon.

Features of Aroeira Pines Classic

The Aroeira Pines Classic Golf Course, near Lisbon, plays to 6080m and demands great accuracy and placement off the tee in order to maximise opportunities to hit the target greens in regulation. The course also provides a variety of game situations for different levels of golfers.

On the first round, hole 8 stands out for its 190m Par 3 and steep inclination. A highlight of the second round is hole number 11, a Par 4 designed by Robert Trent Jones. From here, the tee-off is a blind shot into a narrow fairway with trees on both sides, followed by a spectacular approach to a green closely protected by water and bunkers.

The Aroeira Pines Classic Golf Course is renowned for being the host of the Portuguese Open in 1996 and 1997, and was also the venue for a number of Ladies' European Tour events and the prestigious European Men's Club Trophy in 2013.
