We would definitely recommend both the destination and the organization.
Eva, we would like to thank you for the perfect support you have provided us through Portugal Golf for the planning and realization of our golf package. Everything went very well. I particularly appreciated your kindness and good responsiveness.
Hotel Marriott Praia d'El Rey: This is a very good hotel for golfers. Nice rooms, good facilities, nice and knowledgeable people. Very convenient in all respects.
Hotel Palacio Estoril: Also a good hotel with a perfect location and surroundings. As for the rooms, my room on the 1st floor was perfect, large and comfortable, with a very nice view of the garden and pool. Unfortunately, this was not the case for our friends, with a small room on the 3rd floor and a not so pleasant view of the back of the hotel that did not meet legitimate expectations.
Very nice golf courses: Penha Longa and West Cliffs are our favorites, followed by Oitavos Dunes and Praia d'El Rey. All beautiful and very well maintained. Bom Sucesso is interesting to play, but unfortunately by far not in as good conditions as the others.
We really enjoyed our trip and we would definitely recommend both the destination and the organization. Thank you!!!
You love your work and it shows.
Sara, we loved working with you and your entire team. We really enjoyed the Hotel Palacio Estoril and their golf course (Estoril Golf Course) My favorite course of the four we played (Estoril Golf Course, Penha Longa, Oitavos Dunes. & West Cliffs) was Oitavos Dunes. Larry liked West Cliffs the best. Those were our top 2. The drivers for airport and golf transfers were great and everything you did was superb! From the dinner reservations to golf to transfers. You love your work and it shows. Same for Eva. Good luck in your future endeavors and hopefully we see you again. Louise
More than happy to play Estoril and Penha Longa over and over again!
We all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday with the weather being especially kind. The golf courses (Estoril, Penha Longa & Oitavos Dunes) were all in excellent condition with Estoril and Penha Longa our favourites. We felt Oitavos Dunes was very much like many long corporate courses that are about these days and made more difficult by the very strong wind when we played!! They also did not serve food until after 1.30, which seemed strange. More than happy to play Estoril and Penha Longa over and over again! Loved the layout and design of both courses which were a pleasure to be on. We ate there at lunchtime with our wives and both clubs were very welcoming and served good meals. The transfer service to and from the courses was excellent and punctual, never had to wait more than a few minutes once a request was made.
The Hotel Palacio Estoril looked after us very well. It is in a great location, very handy to walk into Cascais and catch the train to Lisbon. The breakfast was of a good standard with plenty of choice on offer. The rooms we were allocated were spacious, clean and well provided, with nice views over the gardens. Generally the service was excellent and friendly, apart from a couple of occasions when they seemed under staffed when trying to deal with corporate groups, particularly in the bar area, where it could take quite a long time to get served.
My wife was able to hire the mobility scooter for the week from the hotel at a reasonable rate which was great. Couldn’t see anywhere else nearby that she could have hired one and we never saw anyone all week using one, which is quite unusual.
The outdoor pool was well maintained and just about up to temperature with plenty of sun beds, shades and towels for all who wanted to use them.
The Spa was of a high standard and although we didn’t make use of any treatments, we did spend time in the pool, steam room, jacuzzi etc. It was all very clean and well run and a quiet place to relax.
It took over 2 years to finally get our holiday in Portugal, thanks to COVID, but it certainly didn’t disappoint.
A big thanks to Kelly for her organising, recommendations and patience. I hope we can all stay fit and well enough to come and visit Portugal again soon.
Thank you and your team for organizing this wonderful holiday
Eva, I would like to thank you and your team for organizing this wonderful holiday. There are a few things that I would like to comment about. One: the lodging facilities, I would rate Penha Longa #1 and 5 star. I spent one additional night at the Oitavos which was also excellent 5 star. The Troia Lagos apartments were very good as were the apartments at Praia Del Rey. But the bed was too hard At Praia d'el Rey. The sister larger hotel to Lagos in Troia which my GPS took us to first is still closed.
The Mara restaurant in Praia d'el Rey also remains closed, so the clubhouse there is the only breakfast option.
Speaking of breakfast Pehna Longa and Oitavos was definitely way better than the other two. Praia was only average. Troia did a good job. Oitavos rivalled Penha Longa.
Now the golf:
West Cliffs was spectacularly beautiful and challenging. Massive elevation changes. Definitely the best and would play again many times but take a buggy! Which we did and bring lots of balls. Very easy to lose them there. We changed our tee times and played it twice.
Praia del Rey was also very good but played it on a very windy day so can’t judge it fairly. It’s a mix of links and parkland holes.
Oitavos Dunes we caught on a windy day too and so judging it fairly is hard. Great links design and in excellent condition. I would play it again.
Penha Longa Atlantic & Penha Longa Mosteiro is parkland and also very good especially the championship course. They are in the midst of some bunker refurbishment on a few holes. Once that is done it will be 5 star again.
Troia is a good course but not as good as the others. Less well maintained. No beverage cart. No water to drink on course and no on-course toilets.
The whole Troia area is still recovering from the COVID disruption.
The building and construction going on around West Cliffs is remarkable. Will not recognize it probably when we come back.
Finally, the Melia hotel Lisbon Airport was excellent for catching an early morning flight. We walked that morning to terminal and made car drop off day before easy and allowed us to take the train into city centre night before departure to visit. Very convenient and efficient.
Eva, thanks for setting it all up.
a real 5-star hotel: the reception, the room with amenities and the service is excellent
Thanks to the whole Portugal golf team and especially to Sara for professional and customer oriented service. We appreciate it. Our stay in Portugal has been enjoyable and even though there has been some (read many ;-) ) rainy days it has been fun.
Golf hotel Marina Club & Palmares was a surprise to us, as we didn’t know beforehand that it was an apartment with cooking possibilities: it was well-equipped, and it was nice to make our own dinner after golf.
From Pestana Dom João II it was easy to walk to Alvor restaurants and the room was spacious enough.
At this moment we are staying at Hotel Palacio Estoril which is a real 5-star hotel: the reception, the room with amenities and the service is excellent.
Regarding the golf courses (Palmares Golf Course; Pinheiros Altos; San Lorenzo; Penina Championship, Gramacho, Vila Sol, Pinta & Silves): they are all nice with their own style. We understand that it is spring and the course conditions are not perfect but in Finland there is snow and no opportunity to play, so these are just great! :)
You never know if there will be new opportunities to have nice time in Portugal.
