Spread out over the idyllic island of Porto Santo, one of Portugal's Madeira Islands, the layout of Porto Santo Golf Course takes advantage of the native vegetation and the various existing lakes. The excellent year-round weather, spectacular views, ocean breeze and unspoiled nature make the Porto Santo Golf Course a must-play.
The Porto Santo Golf Course is an extensive and demanding course, divided in two distinctive parts. The southern section was built close to the traditional style of American courses, with a number of lakes and the island's long beach as a backdrop. Long and accurate tee shots are essential here, and strategy and concentration are required.
The northern part of the course is built on hills and cliffs, combining the best features of a traditional British links course with spectacular scenery. The most impressive holes are probably numbers 13 to 15, running along the cliffs and offer fabulous views over the Atlantic Ocean.
Without a doubt, golfers iare put to the test on this course, and must use and master all clubs. One of the things players must have in mind is the wind that dominates almost all the golf course, especially on the last 9 holes.
