In the Portuguese hills

Running through 200 hectares, Montebelo Golf Course, 1-hour drive from Porto, is set in a unique landscape with exceptional views over Serra da Estrela and Serra do Caramulo. Montebelo Golf course was designed by Mark Stilwell and Malcolm Kenyon to respect both the terrain's dimensions and its shape, to ensure the best of the golf course's landscape qualities.

Three distinctive parts

The mountainous golf course of Montebelo, in Portugal, runs through pine and oak trees, over 6,317 metres. Montebelo is divided in 3 parts, named according to their main geographical landmarks: the Caramulo course (first nine holes), the Estrela course (next nine holes) and the Buçaco (last nine). Dog legs, no less than eight of them, are typical of Montebelo golf course. The final sequence is unforgettable; the last three holes provide astonishing views over valleys, streams, hills, lakes and well protected greens.

The "soul of the course"

The most memorable hole of Montebelo Golf Course, however, is probably Hole No. 12, a long Par 3, running downhill towards its green, with a bunker on the left and a lake behind. This hole is considered to be the "soul of the Montebelo golf course" because of its challenging physical characteristics and the unique landscape that surrounds it.

Other noticeable holes

The second hole, with its dogleg on the left, is also memorable for those who play at Montebelo Golf Course, north of Portugal. With 482 meters (yellows), it is the longest on the course, with the hills of Caramulo as its background. Hole No. 10, a par of 5, is on the highest point of the Montebelo course. From the tee, which is next to the Club House, players can admire a wonderful and endless view of the region.
